The YCT test (Youth Chinese Test) was launched by Hanban, the National Office for Chinese Language. YCT 1 is offered to CM2 students.
HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is a Chinese language test drawn up under the authority of the National Office of China. The most recognised test internationally, the HSK offers students the possibility to be accepted directly into a Chinese university.
For further information, please see Related Resources.
FIS is an examination center for YCT. The upcoming exam should take place at Chai Wan Campus.
Since August 2017, FIS is no longer an examination center for HSK because of a number of constraints and lack of available space.
FIS does, however, continue to provide pedagogical and practical information to parents particularly with regard to examination level selection for students.
Assistance registering for YCT & HSK Tests
FOR FIS STUDENTS IN PRIMARY: Teachers will send a link to parents in order to register for YCT on a specified date (during the second semester). Parents themselves will then register their child for the exam.
FOR FIS STUDENTS IN SECONDARY: A link to register for the HSK is published under "Practical information for HSK registration" in Related Resources. Students can select their exam date and register by themsleves online. The next session is scheduled on 11 February 2018 at HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education (11/F, Fortress Tower, 250 King’s Road, North Point, Hong Kong).
