Issue 68: 21/6/2024 Strategic Objective: , Blue Pool Road News (Reflections and Achievements) Y7, Y8, Y9, Y10, Y11, Y12, Y13 , ,

On the morning of May 31st, the International Stream teachers participated in a professional development event, in which groups shared the action research that they had been conducting over the course of the academic year. Action research is an important aspect of pedagogical professional development and allows teachers the opportunity to explore important pedagogical issues, conduct research in the classroom on how these issues can be addressed using new or adjusted techniques, and reflecting upon their impact on and benefits to the students.

This year, topics were as diverse, and included (but were not limited to) such issues as:

The presentations were informative and the projects were well-researched and thought-provoking, allowing insights into how teachers are trying to improve their practices at FIS in order to support better student outcomes.

This event is part of FIS’ continuing strategic plan for our team, which is to “provide professional development for life-long learning” and to “reinforce a coherent professional growth and performance evaluation system”.

Overall, this event was a very positive experience and the teachers were able to demonstrate their passion for education and ensuring that their students develop as learners.
