JL Primary Cross Country Team

Issue 56: 8/3/2024

On Saturday 24th February, we took 4 teams of primary cross-country runners to the HKPSSA Island Cross Country Festival. Each team consisted of 6 runners and there were ten schools in attendance, so it was a very large event with lots of participants. Having attended last year, we knew that the races were going to be a good, competitive test for all of our runners, who had been training very hard for their race. The course was challenging, a 3km road race with an almost vertical set of steps to navigate, not once, but three times!

Again, we took children from both the French and International Streams, and it was also wonderful to see our parents supporting our school and their children.

We concluded the races with an excellent set of results, with the U11 Girls team winning the overall event, with our runners placing 2,5,8,13,25 & 26. The U11 Boys came in second, with placings of 15, 16,17, 27, 28 & 33. Our U10 boys and girls teams ran very well, with one of our runners placing 6th in the U10 girls race.

Well done to all and a massive thank you to Jane Wakeman, Richard Phillips and James Yorke.
