The School Medical Journal’s latest issue on antibiotics recognizes the significance the global issue of antibiotic resistance. The journal highlights the research efforts of students in understanding the sources, research, and complexities of antibiotic use especially resistance which is an issue of concern in medical care in the developed world including in Hong Kong. According to recent statistics in Hong Kong, nearly a quarter of adult deaths in hospitals are due to sepsis. It emphasizes the need for raising awareness and advocating for change.
