An amazing start to the year!
Happy new year. I wish you all health and happiness in 2024.
When I returned to school I was delighted to receive news of wonderful student accomplishments:
- Many of our primary and secondary students participated in the International Mathematics Challenge. All but one of our students scored between the 80th and 95th percentiles were conferred the title of an IMC Elitists. The other (one of our primary students), scored above the 95th percentile and was conferred the title of an IMC Champion. What a result for the students and FIS!
- Tiffany Mak (y12) recently competed in the Youth Sailing World Championships 2023 in Buzios, Brazil. She represented Hong Kong and sailed in the 29er class. Tiffany and her teammate Emily did well and placed 7th in the regatta. She also won the 2023 Youth Female Sailor of the Year organised by The Sailing Federation of Hong Kong, China and the Shine Tak Foundation Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards (OJAA) 2023 organised by the Hong Kong Sports Institute in June. Earlier in the year, she also participated in the 29er World Championships 2023 in Weymouth, UK and became the U17 Female World Champion. Outsanding! What a commitment to a sport! All this is even more impressive as Tiffany manages to balance her sporting commitments with her studies. Well done, Tiffany.
I wonder what is next! As a retired colleague said to me, “Don’t be pushed by your problems, be led by your dreams.”
