Mid-Autumn Festival and the Fire Dragon Dance in Tai Hang

According to the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival takes place on 29th September. On this occasion, families all over China will be enjoying Moon Cakes and going out for evening walks to admire the lanterns and the most beautiful full moon of the year.

Since 1880, Hong Kong’s Tai Hang district, south of Victoria Park and Tin Hau, has preserved an extraordinary folk festival: the Fire Dragon Dance. For 3 consecutive nights, the 67-metre-long luminous dragon, carried by 300 volunteers, will take to the streets to the accompaniment of brass bands and incense smoke. An exceptional festival not to be missed!
