Report on 16th January Board Meeting

The Board of FIS meets every third Monday of the month (term time only); this month due to the Chinese new year we met earlier.

The Board focused on three areas:

• A presentation from our new Director of Admissions, Mrs. Joanne Stanley. Mrs. Stanley focused on current and upcoming actions to improve the Admissions process at FIS and develop an enrolment strategy that supports our school in its mission. She also presented the current status of Admissions numbers to the Board.
• A vote on summer renovations at our Chai Wan campus. In order to be fully converted into an Early Childhood school, the campus requires updates and improvements to ensure spaces are appropriate both on a pedagogical and operational level. The motion was voted and summer works authorised.
• A progress status of each Board committee on their roadmap midyear: the chairs of the Governance, Compensation and Benefits, Finance, Long-Term Strategic Planning, Audit, and Fundraising committees shared work and progress made toward goals set and voted on in the October meeting. Overall, committees are either on track or ahead of schedule in the implementation of these goals, exhibiting sound and efficient governance practices.

The next Board meeting is scheduled for 20th February 2023.
