A time to look forward

Issue 15: 13/1/2023 From the Principal

I was among the many members of the FIS community to return abroad to be with family over the Christmas period, and it was fantastic to be reunited with my three children for the first festive celebration since 2019 in person.  Every time that I have travelled abroad in the past year I have been lucky enough to be the recepient of a little easing of restrictions in Hong Kong upon my return, to the extent that some are urging me to travel ASAp to get rid of the last remaining rules!  They see me as the lucky charm traveller.

Joking aside it certainly does seem that we are starting to get back to the sort of extra curricular events that we last saw in the 2019/20 academic year.  The year 7 will be going out of school for the day at the end of this month, and we no longer have to concern ourselves with the restricting Covid rules from last term.  We are also going to be sending out a message to year 7, 8, 9 & 10 parents about the end of year CAS week, to help guide us in the sort of trips that we can offer as part of our ongoing mission to develop spirited and confident children.  These sort of offerings are part of what makes FIS an exciting place to be a student, and certainly goes along way towards bringing normalcy back to the Hong Kong International Schools.

Finally we would like to say a big well done to all those students that received great grades in their December  reports.  The next couple of fridays will see the best of those students rewarded with certificates in assemblies.  Please ask your child how they did, and if they missed out, ask them what they are going to change to make sure that they are in the top echelons in term 2.
