FIS students take centre stage at the Hong Kong Science Museum!

Issue 09: 18/11/2022

Last Saturday, 12th of November, FIS students took centre stage at the Hong Kong Science Museum!

As part of the French Science Festival 2022 organised by the Consulate General of France, three FIS students collaborated with longtime FIS partner, Ocean3C, to host climate education workshops to raise awareness about the climate crisis.

We thought you might like to hear from them directly on why they got involved and what it meant to them to participate in an outreach activity with the general public:

Throughout the event, I most enjoyed explaining certain concepts the children had never heard of and seeing their joy when they understood. For example, when explaining the problem of deforestation (due to the need for food) and its links to meat consumption, the children didn’t seem to comprehend the process of production of the food that finds its way to their plate. I was amazed by the kids’ rapid ability to understand the root cause of the climate crisis and the links between its different factors.

I quite liked how  the participants seemed to be invested and interested in the game. I most enjoyed talking to the people who stayed until the end because they were really nice and there was a real exchange of ideas and potential solutions. Lea

I was surprised by how much the participants already knew about climate change. I really enjoyed teaching, helping them discover even more about the topic. I found this particular Fresk to be quite easy going as the participants really shared and helped each other. I especially enjoyed explaining new concepts as I really felt the participants making links between all their previously acquired knowledge. Antoine
