Time to rest and look forward to the second half of term

Issue 07: 28/10/2022 From the Principal

After two years of resigning ourselves to staying in Hong Kong for the Autumn half-term break, it still feels a little surreal to be looking forward to boarding a plane again to head off out of the country in an attempt to recharge the batteries.  As an added bonus there is no longer a requirement to be quarantined either upon return.  It is little things like this that have perhaps contributed to the more positive ambience that has certainly been noticeable in the FIS community since we returned from the Summer break in early September.

The second half of term has plenty to offer.  The year 13 IB will complete the toughest term of their programme, submit most of their University applications and have met most of the IA/EE/TOK submission deadlines too!  Year 12 are starting to get more and more involved in their CAS activities and have a possible CAS trip to look forward to in the New Year.  Year 11 will also continue to work hard towards their IGCSEs, with the mock exams coming up straight after the Chinese New Year break in February 2023 whilst year 10 complte their first term on their examination courses.  Interestingly many of them are saying how much more work they have to do now they are in the “serious” years!

The IMYC is now running the full course of years 7, 8 and 9.  There are a number of Exit and Entry points happening at the start of next term, and so please ask your children about them.  The first set of academic reports for all year groups are also so out in early December, and this will be followed by online Student-Parent-Teacher 3 Way conferences on Wednesday 7 & Friday 9 December 2022.  We will be sending more details upon our return from the break. Please enjoy the coming week, whether you are jetting off or staying in Hong Kong with the cooler weather.
