FIS INTERACTIVE CLIMATE FRESK WORKSHOP
Last Saturday, 12 enthusiastic students, teachers and parents joined the first Climate Fresk Workshop of the new school year. Many of the participants had the same burning questions:
- What is the main impact of climate change on land, water and sea?
- Are fossil fuels the main culprit?
- How does the temperature increase (global warming) affect the oceans?
- What are the consequences of the increase in air and ocean warming?
- Which human activities contribute most to climate change?
And most importantly: - What can we do about climate change?
At the Climate Fresk Workshop, many harrowing questions were addressed and debated. With the help of the Climate Fresk Card Game, players interactively had the opportunity to learn more about climate change by laying out the sequences, starting from deciphering its causes to unravelling its consequences. All participants finished the workshop with greater knowledge and feeling empowered to act against climate change.
Martial Jaume, Pedagogical Sustainability Coordinator at FIS, and country lead of the Climate Fresk in Hong Kong, is spearheading this movement and is ambitiously growing the Climate Fresk Community at our school.
How can I join a Climate Fresk?
From climate literacy to action! Do you want to learn more and take action to make a difference in addressing the climate emergency situation?
You can join any workshop, firstly as a participant to experience the game, and if interested, you can ask to become a Climate Fresk facilitator thereafter. Currently, we are a community of 50+ facilitators at FIS.
How can I become a facilitator, and what is the age requirement?
The minimum age is 14yrs old. The facilitator needs to be able to lead the workshop, debate and be able to answer specific climate change questions. The good news is that there is a junior version of the game, Junior Climate Fresk for 9/10 to 14yrs old, so younger students can also be involved.
Interested parents can email sustainabilitycommittee@g.lfis.edu.hk and interested students and educators can email mjaume@g.lfis.edu.hk and ask to join the next workshop.
Where can I read more about the Climate Fresk Game?

When is the next workshop at FIS?
On 12th November 2022, we will be holding a facilitator’s workshop to train a new cohort of facilitators so we can help the school run regular events to enable more and more people to become climate literate. The objective is to train 100 students by 2023.
We hope you can join our next workshops and become a Climate Fresk participant or facilitator. We promise interactive fun and lots of interesting discussions!
