As part of the IB preparation, Lower 6 students must complete the Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) Programme. This year's trip to Thailand (15 to 21 October) proved to be a great success with the students having an enjoyable time whilst meeting many of the criteria of the IB CAS programme.
Although much of Bangkok, particularly the surrounding areas, remain under flood water, Chiang Rai was dry with locals reporting less than usual rainfall. The students participated in a wide range of activities from raft building to assisting in a forestry project. They also tested their culinary skills by learning how to cook two traditional Thai dishes and then enjoyed eating them as part of their evening meal.
The class was a great credit to FIS with the supervisors at the Maekok River Village Resort commenting on the excellent manners, good humour and outstanding timekeeping of our students. Before returning to Hong Kong many left donations of clothes and shoes for the local people which will be greatly appreciated by the community.
