Commitment of the FIS with authorities as a precondition to the allocation of the site

FIS Chai Wan campus:
Transport and Traffic Management Policy
The French International School of Hong Kong (FIS) has developed the following Transport and Traffic Management Policy as a prerequisite condition of obtaining permission from the Government to renovate and occupy the ex-Meng Tak Catholic School site at Chai Wan.
- Delivery and collection of pupils by private car, van or taxi to the vicinity of the school entrance is strictly prohibited during the morning and afternoon periods of normal school access. These periods are clearly defined and will be reviewed from time to time and any changes communicated to all parents and staff by personal message and by bulletin on the school web site.
- School staff will only be allowed and in exceptional circumstances to arrive at or be picked up from the school by private car, taxi or van; by prior arrangement with the school supervisory staff (Vie Scolaire).
- Any private car, taxi or van approaching the site entrance at these times will be turned away by supervisory staff at the roadside employed by FIS.
- Kwoon Chung Motors, the current main provider of school bus services, will run new school bus services to Chai Wan, from and to the locations served by existing school buses. 14 routes are envisaged, and at least one of these routes will have a stop at Jardines Lookout. It is expected that that this service will be suitable for over 90% of families attending the school.
- School buses will be strictly marshalled as they arrive and depart for safety of children and minimization of dispersal time and traffic impact.
- For any special events at the Chai Wan campus to which parents are invited, a special bus service will be arranged by the school to transport parents to and from one or more collection points.
- Students arriving late in exceptional circumstances may be delivered by taxi or private vehicle can be dropped off at the school entrance, by prior arrangement made by telephone call to the school supervisory staff (Vie Scolaire).
- In addition to statutory Emergency Vehicle Access, there will be a statutory minimum number of parking spaces on the site for staff cars and motorcycles plus a bay for goods deliveries to be scheduled outside the times for school bus access to the site.
- Any parents not respecting this policy will receive a warning letter from the school and in cases of repeat transgression will be asked to attend a meeting with one of the Primary School Head Masters or the Proviseur of the whole school.
- This policy is to be issued to all new parents on offer of a place at FIS. Reminders of this policy will be given to parents with the fee invoice each term.
- Eco-school: our school is strongly involved in sustainable development and ecology. Usage of public transport is recommended.
