The collection
The Collection is divided in two parts: one French and one English. The Dewey classification system is used to organize the fiction, non-fiction and the reference collection. There is also a Career section and a myriad of resources about Hong Kong.
The library subscribes to many magazines for pleasure and research; students also have access to online and digital resources. There are teaching resources and there is also a space for teaching.
Online resources
We have created a Library Portal for you to access our online resources in French and English from school or home. For some, access is automatic, for others you have to log in. You have been given the passwords and login details, but if you have misplaced them, you can ask the librarians.
You will still find all these resources on Netsoft, as well as access to our library catalogue BCDI. Note that access to BCDI is only available at school.
Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader is used to motivate students to read, whilst providing a system of monitoring students’ reading progress.
Using Accelerated Reader involves these steps:
- Students reading comprehension levels are assessed with STAR Reader.
- Students select and read a book at their level (formats available: audio, non-fiction, fiction).
- Students complete comprehension quizzes on the book they select.
Using the Library database software BCDI
All collections are accessible through BCDI, the automated library catalogue. Users can access the database from school. You can search by author, title, series or subjects headings. Access to BCDI is available from all the school’s computers via Netsoft.
