HSK is a test of Chinese language drawn up under the authority of the China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. It is the only worldwide objective assessment of Chinese as a foreign language level. It is more and more recognized throughout the world.  Over the last few years, the number of candidates sitting for the HSK exam in China and worldwide has doubled from one semester to another!

This test is becoming as TOEFL, by which it was inspired (Test of English as a Foreign Language), the international reference for assessing the Chinese language level (there is no civilization topic). It gives the students the possibility to get directly accepted in a Chinese university.

HSK New version:

Since November 2009, a new HSK version has been presented to replace progressively the existing version. It has been fully launched since March 2010.

Structure

In the new version, the written and oral exams are distinct parts, each following its own scale as shown in the below table:

  •  Level 1 :

Test takers who are able to pass the HSK (Level I) can understand and use very simple Chinese phrases, meet basic needs for communication and possess the ability to further their Chinese language studies.

  • Level 2 :

Test takers who are able to pass the HSK (Level II) have an excellent grasp of basic Chinese and can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.

  • Level 3 :

Test takers who are able to pass the HSK (Level III) can communicate in Chinese at a basic level in their daily, academic and professional lives. They can manage most communication in Chinese when travelling in China.

  • Level 4 :

Test takers who are able to pass the HSK (Level IV) can converse in Chinese on a wide range of topics and are able to communicate fluently with native Chinese speakers.

  • Level 5 :

Test takers who are able to pass the HSK (Level V) can read Chinese newspapers and magazines, enjoy Chinese films and plays and give a full-length speech in Chinese.

  • Level 6 :

Test takers who are able to pass the HSK (Level VI) can easily comprehend written and spoken information in Chinese and can effectively express themselves in Chinese, both orally and on paper.

The French International School organises this year level 3 and level 4 of the HSK. The exam will take place on Sunday 12 May 2013

For level 4, the exam will be between 9am and 11am.

For level 3, the exam will be between 1.30pm and 3pm.

Registration

Fill in the registration form below (French, English and Simplified Chinese) and return it with a cheque of HK$400 (for Level 3) and HK$500 (for Level 4) payable to "French International School" and one ID photo (40mm x 30mm) to the following address. Applicants’ name and surname must be written on the back of both cheque and photo.
